Rebar Tie Wire — 3.5 lb Coils, 24 Boxes to the Pallet
The wire is the cheapest item on a rebar job and the fastest way to lose a shift. A coil that fights the hook, a box that comes up 68 lb, a gauge that jams the gun at 2 p.m. on a pour day — none of that shows up in a price list, and all of it shows up in labor. We draw dead-soft low-carbon and nothing else, in Dingzhou since 1998: 16 and 16.5 gauge, 3.5 lb coils on the North American box count.

Why 16.5, and why dead-soft
16.5 ga (1.48 mm) is the gun gauge — it feeds clean
16 ga (1.59 mm) is the hand gauge — more steel per twist
Dead-soft takes the twist and holds it — no spring-back
It lies down on deformed bar instead of arching away
It whitens before it breaks: a bad tie shows in your hand
